Testicular Oxidative Stress

Meaning

Testicular Oxidative Stress describes a state within the testes where the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) significantly overwhelms the local antioxidant defense systems, leading to molecular damage. This imbalance can cause lipid peroxidation, DNA fragmentation in germ cells, and protein modification, which critically impairs spermatogenesis and reduces Leydig cell function. Clinically, this condition is a major contributing factor to male infertility and age-related decline in testosterone production.
