Testicular Function

Meaning

Testicular Function refers to the dual roles performed by the testes: the production of viable sperm (spermatogenesis) and the synthesis of key male sex steroids, predominantly testosterone. Optimal function is contingent upon precise regulation via the HPG axis, ensuring adequate LH stimulation for Leydig cell steroidogenesis and FSH stimulation for Sertoli cell support of germ cells. Clinical assessment of this function is vital for male reproductive and metabolic health. We assess both exocrine and endocrine output.
