Testicular Atrophy

Meaning

Testicular atrophy is the clinical term for the decrease in size and mass of the testicles, which is typically accompanied by a reduction in their endocrine and exocrine function. This condition results in diminished testosterone production (endocrine failure) and impaired spermatogenesis (exocrine failure). Causes range from primary testicular disease to secondary suppression due to exogenous hormone administration or chronic illness.
