Telomere Maintenance Modulation

Meaning

The biological and therapeutic strategy of regulating the length and stability of telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, which are a primary biomarker of cellular aging. Modulation aims to slow the rate of telomere shortening or promote their elongation through the enzyme telomerase, thereby extending the replicative capacity and lifespan of somatic cells. This is a direct intervention on a core mechanism of cellular senescence and biological decline.
