Telomere Length Modulation

Meaning

This refers to the clinical and biological processes that influence the length of telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, which are a key biomarker of cellular aging and replication capacity. Modulation involves implementing interventions designed to either preserve telomere length or stimulate the activity of the telomerase enzyme, thereby slowing the rate of cellular senescence and promoting healthspan. Maintaining optimal telomere length is a central goal in regenerative and longevity medicine.
