Telogen Phase

Meaning

The Telogen Phase is the final, resting stage of the hair growth cycle, during which the hair follicle is completely inactive and the club hair is fully formed. This period of quiescence is a normal, necessary part of follicular cycling, typically lasting several months before the old hair is shed and the follicle re-enters the anagen (growth) phase. A disproportionate increase in the number of follicles in the telogen phase is a clinical indicator of hair shedding disorders like telogen effluvium.
