Telogen Effluvium

Meaning

Telogen Effluvium is a common, non-scarring form of temporary hair loss characterized by the sudden and often dramatic excessive shedding of hair from the scalp. This condition is caused by a significant number of hair follicles prematurely entering the telogen, or resting, phase of the hair growth cycle. It is fundamentally a reactive disorder, typically triggered by a major systemic physiological event or stressor.
