Targeted Rest

Meaning

Targeted Rest is a clinical and behavioral strategy that involves intentionally programming specific, brief periods of reduced physical and cognitive activity into the daily cycle to facilitate localized or systemic physiological recovery. This is distinct from general sleep and is aimed at optimizing the efficiency of restorative processes, such as muscle glycogen replenishment or neurochemical clearance. It is a proactive method for managing allostatic load.
