TAME Trial

Meaning

TAME stands for the Targeting Aging with Metformin trial, a landmark proposed clinical study designed to investigate whether the anti-diabetic drug metformin can delay the onset of age-related diseases and mortality in non-diabetic older adults. Although not a traditional hormonal therapy trial, it is highly relevant to hormonal health and longevity as metformin influences fundamental metabolic and endocrine pathways, including insulin sensitivity and the IGF-1 axis. The trial aims to provide robust evidence for repurposing an existing drug for geroscience.
