T/C Ratio

Meaning

The T/C Ratio, or Testosterone-to-Cortisol Ratio, is a biochemical index used in endocrinology and sports medicine to assess the balance between anabolic and catabolic physiological states, reflecting the body’s overall stress and recovery status. Testosterone is the primary anabolic hormone, promoting tissue building, while cortisol is the primary catabolic stress hormone, promoting tissue breakdown and energy mobilization. A high ratio generally indicates an anabolic state, whereas a low or falling ratio suggests a catabolic state, often due to overtraining, chronic stress, or hormonal insufficiency.
