Mechanism
For the endocrine system, an example is using a brief, low-intensity exercise session to “prime” muscle tissue, increasing blood flow and insulin sensitivity before a major meal, thereby optimizing nutrient partitioning. Neurologically, a short burst of cold exposure can prime the autonomic nervous system, making it more responsive to subsequent relaxation techniques. This initial, controlled stimulus lowers the activation threshold for the desired downstream metabolic or neurological response.
