Systemic Physiological Adaptation

Meaning

Systemic Physiological Adaptation refers to the coordinated, multi-organ, and multi-hormonal response that allows the entire biological system to successfully adjust and maintain internal stability in the face of persistent or profound environmental and internal demands. This represents the body’s global ability to achieve allostasis—stability through change—in response to chronic stress, nutritional shifts, or the aging process. A successful adaptation is a marker of robust health, while a failed or exhausted adaptation leads to chronic dysfunction and eventual pathology.
