Systemic Metabolism

Meaning

Systemic Metabolism encompasses the totality of all chemical processes occurring throughout the entire organism, including the synthesis (anabolism) and breakdown (catabolism) of energy-yielding substrates across all tissues and organs. It represents the integrated physiological function of energy balance, nutrient processing, and waste elimination, orchestrated by the endocrine system. Disruptions to this highly regulated system underpin most chronic metabolic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes.
