Meaning

The overarching, integrated regulatory network, primarily involving the hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenals, and gonads (HPAG axis), that directs core physiological processes like energy allocation, stress response, and reproduction across the entire organism. This command structure dictates the systemic metabolic set-point for an individual. Understanding this command is prerequisite to effective hormonal intervention. It represents the highest level of internal physiological governance.
