Systemic Functional Capacity

Meaning

The integrated measure of the total physiological reserve and performance across all major organ systems—including cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological, and endocrine—that dictates an individual’s ability to respond to stress and maintain homeostasis. High systemic functional capacity is the clinical hallmark of biological youth and resilience, directly correlating with healthspan and quality of life. Declining capacity is a primary feature of biological aging and chronic disease progression.
