Systemic Adaptation Limits

Meaning

The maximum capacity of the body’s integrated physiological systems—including the neuroendocrine, immune, and musculoskeletal systems—to respond and successfully adapt to cumulative stressors before experiencing a maladaptive breakdown or a decline in homeostatic function. Exceeding these limits leads to allostatic overload, resulting in chronic fatigue, immune dysfunction, and hormonal imbalances. This limit is dynamic and highly individualized, reflecting the person’s current health status and Intrinsic Capacity Reserves.
