Synthetic Estrogens

Meaning

Chemical compounds that are structurally or functionally similar to naturally occurring estrogens but are manufactured in a laboratory and do not naturally exist in the human body. These agents are designed to bind to and activate estrogen receptors, often with greater potency and a longer half-life than endogenous hormones. They are widely used in oral contraceptives and some forms of traditional hormone replacement therapy, but their pharmacological profile differs significantly from bioidentical hormones.
