Synovial Tissue

Meaning

Synovial tissue represents a specialized connective tissue layer found within the diarthrodial joint capsules, distinct from articular cartilage. This lining primarily functions in producing synovial fluid, a viscous substance vital for joint health and movement. It is composed of an intima, containing synoviocytes, and a subintima, comprising loose connective tissue with blood vessels and nerves.
