Symptom Management

Meaning

The clinical process of alleviating or controlling the distress and discomfort caused by the signs and manifestations of a disease or physiological state, without necessarily curing the underlying pathology. This strategy focuses on improving the patient’s quality of life by reducing the severity, frequency, or duration of subjective complaints. In hormonal health, symptom management is often employed while working to correct the root endocrine imbalance or in cases where a complete cure is not feasible.
