Supraphysiologic Dosage

Meaning

Supraphysiologic Dosage refers to the administration of a pharmaceutical agent, particularly a steroid hormone, at a dose level that results in circulating concentrations significantly exceeding the upper limit of the natural, endogenous range typically observed in a healthy, young adult. While such high dosing may be intentionally utilized for specific, short-term therapeutic or performance-enhancing protocols, it inherently carries a substantially greater risk of dose-dependent side effects and a profound, often rapid disruption of the body’s homeostatic feedback mechanisms. Meticulous clinical justification and continuous monitoring are mandatory for any such intervention.
