Suprachiasmatic Nucleus Synchronization

Meaning

Suprachiasmatic Nucleus Synchronization is the clinical objective of ensuring that the individual neurons within the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus (SCN), the brain’s master clock, are firing in a unified, cohesive rhythm, and that this central rhythm is accurately aligned with the external 24-hour light-dark cycle. Proper synchronization is fundamental for coordinating all downstream peripheral biological clocks and maintaining the robust diurnal rhythmicity of the entire neuroendocrine system. Desynchronization leads to circadian disruption and hormonal imbalance.
