Supra-Physiological Androgens

Meaning

Supra-Physiological Androgens refer to the concentration of male sex hormones, primarily testosterone and its synthetic analogs, circulating in the body at levels significantly exceeding the normal, endogenous range established for a healthy individual. While sometimes utilized in clinical settings for specific therapeutic goals, the non-prescribed use of these elevated levels is associated with profound and often irreversible adverse effects on the cardiovascular, hepatic, and endocrine systems. These concentrations override the body’s natural homeostatic mechanisms, leading to suppression of endogenous hormone production and potential organ damage.
