Suppressed Spermatogenesis

Meaning

Suppressed Spermatogenesis is a clinical state characterized by a significant reduction in the production of mature, viable sperm cells within the seminiferous tubules of the testes. This condition leads to oligospermia or azoospermia and is a primary cause of male infertility. Within the context of hormonal health, it is often an expected side effect of exogenous testosterone administration, as the resulting high androgen levels trigger a negative feedback loop that severely inhibits the pituitary release of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone and Luteinizing Hormone, which are essential for testicular function.
