Super-Compensation

Meaning

Super-Compensation describes the physiological state achieved following a period of intense, controlled stress or overload, where the body adapts not just to return to baseline, but to exceed its previous level of fitness or capacity. In hormonal terms, this means that the endocrine system adapts to a stimulus by increasing its sensitivity or output beyond the initial state, preparing for a potentially greater future demand. It is the measurable overshoot of adaptive response.
