Substrate Availability Index

Meaning

A calculated metric or clinical assessment representing the readily accessible pool and efficient mobilization of essential metabolic precursors—or substrates—required for key anabolic and energy-producing pathways, such as steroidogenesis and ATP production. This index quantifies the bioavailability of necessary building blocks, including cholesterol, amino acids, and micronutrient cofactors. A low index indicates a nutritional or metabolic bottleneck that limits optimal hormonal synthesis and cellular function.
