Subjective Symptomatic Relief

Meaning

The patient’s self-reported, qualitative improvement in the perception and severity of their clinical symptoms, such as fatigue, mood disturbance, hot flashes, or libido changes, following a therapeutic intervention. This relief is a critical, yet non-quantifiable, measure of treatment success, reflecting the direct impact of the intervention on the individual’s quality of life and lived experience. It is the empathetic counterpoint to objective biological change.
