Subjective Control Perception

Meaning

Subjective Control Perception is the psychological construct representing an individual’s belief in their ability to influence and manage the outcomes of their own health, well-being, and physiological state. This perception is a critical determinant of health-seeking behaviors, adherence to complex protocols, and resilience in the face of stress or chronic illness. A strong sense of control is highly correlated with improved hormonal balance, particularly a more resilient HPA axis response to stress, and better overall health outcomes. Clinically, fostering this perception is an important therapeutic goal.
