Subjective Age Neurobiology

Meaning

Subjective Age Neurobiology is the study of the neural structures, functional connectivity, and neurochemical profiles that correlate with an individual’s self-perception of their age, often referred to as their “subjective age.” This field investigates how a younger subjective age—feeling younger than one’s chronological age—is reflected in and potentially driven by a more youthful brain structure and function. Clinically, a younger subjective age is a positive psychological marker, often associated with better cognitive function, longevity, and superior hormonal profiles.
