Subclinical Thyroid Management

Meaning

Subclinical Thyroid Management refers to the careful, individualized strategy employed when thyroid function tests (TSH, free T4, free T3) indicate mild impairment, often showing elevated TSH with otherwise normal or near-normal peripheral hormone levels. This management seeks to prevent progression to overt hypothyroidism by addressing underlying causes. We aim to optimize thyroid hormone action at the tissue level without inducing overt hyperthyroidism. This requires clinical judgment beyond standard laboratory reference ranges.
