Subclinical Metabolic Dysfunction

Meaning

A preclinical state of impaired metabolic function characterized by measurable, but often asymptomatic, deviations in biochemical markers that have not yet progressed to meet the diagnostic criteria for overt metabolic disease. This dysfunction may include early signs of insulin resistance, mild dyslipidemia, or elevated inflammatory markers that fall outside the optimal reference range but remain within the standard “normal” clinical limits. Identifying this state is crucial for proactive preventative health interventions.
