Stroop Test

Meaning

The Stroop Test is a standardized neuro-psychological assessment tool used clinically to measure a patient’s selective attention, cognitive interference, and executive function speed. It requires the subject to name the color of a word that is itself a different color name, forcing the brain to suppress an automatic response in favor of a non-automatic one. The test’s outcome is a valuable, objective measure of cognitive reserve and neurological efficiency, often used to track the efficacy of hormonal interventions.
