Stromal Cells

Meaning

Stromal Cells are connective tissue cells that constitute the structural framework, or stroma, of various organs and glands, playing a critical supportive and regulatory role for the parenchymal (functional) cells. In endocrine organs, these cells are vital for providing the necessary microenvironment, including growth factors and extracellular matrix, for hormone-producing cells to function correctly. They are key players in tissue repair, immune regulation, and hormonal signaling within the local environment.
