Stress-Mediated Dysregulation

Meaning

Stress-Mediated Dysregulation refers to the disruption of normal physiological and hormonal balance resulting from chronic, unmanaged psychological or physical stressors, which the body fails to properly adapt to. This state involves a breakdown in the finely tuned communication networks, primarily the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis, leading to inappropriate secretion patterns of cortisol and catecholamines. The resulting dysregulation contributes to widespread issues, including immune suppression, metabolic syndrome, and persistent emotional distress.
