Stress Homeostasis

Meaning

Stress Homeostasis is the physiological capacity of the body to maintain a state of internal stability and optimal function despite exposure to external or internal stressors. This involves the coordinated, adaptive response of the neuroendocrine and immune systems to restore equilibrium following a challenge. Successful stress homeostasis is characterized by a rapid and proportionate stress response followed by an efficient return to baseline, minimizing allostatic load and preserving long-term health.
