Stereochemical Purity

Meaning

Stereochemical purity defines the degree to which a chemical substance, particularly a pharmaceutical compound, consists of a single, desired stereoisomer, free from contamination by other stereoisomers. Many biologically active molecules, including hormones and peptides, exist as mirror-image forms known as enantiomers or as diastereomers, each possessing distinct three-dimensional arrangements of atoms.
