STAT5B Signaling

Meaning

STAT5B Signaling refers to the intracellular cascade initiated by the Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 5B protein, a key transcription factor activated primarily by growth hormone (GH) and prolactin. This pathway is a central mediator of growth hormone’s biological actions, particularly in the liver, where it drives the transcription of the Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) gene and numerous other GH-responsive genes. Proper STAT5B function is critical for linear growth, metabolic regulation, and immune function.
