STAT5 Signaling Pathway

Meaning

The STAT5 signaling pathway, or Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 5, is a crucial intracellular cascade activated by various hormones and growth factors, prominently including prolactin, growth hormone, and certain immune cytokines. It functions as a latent nuclear transcription factor that, upon activation, rapidly translocates to the nucleus to regulate the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. This pathway is an essential regulator in hematopoiesis, immune function, and the development of the mammary gland.
