STAT3 Activation

Meaning

STAT3 Activation refers to the phosphorylation and subsequent nuclear translocation of Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3), a transcription factor critical for mediating the effects of various cytokines and growth factors. This activation is a rapid, non-genomic response that leads to changes in gene expression, playing a key role in cellular processes such as inflammation, tissue repair, and muscle hypertrophy. In muscle tissue, STAT3 activation is particularly relevant to the acute phase of muscle damage response and regeneration. Modulating this pathway is a target for managing chronic inflammation and promoting tissue healing.
