STAR Trial

Meaning

The STAR Trial, formally known as the Study of Tamoxifen and Raloxifene, was a pivotal clinical research endeavor designed to compare the efficacy and safety of two selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), tamoxifen and raloxifene, in preventing invasive breast cancer among postmenopausal women identified as being at increased risk for the disease. This large-scale, randomized, placebo-controlled trial provided critical data regarding chemoprevention strategies.
