Spleen Qi

Meaning

Spleen Qi is a central, vital concept within the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) framework, representing the energetic function of the Spleen organ system, which is fundamentally responsible for the transformation and transportation of food and drink into usable Qi and Blood. This system also governs the containment of Blood within the vessels and the upward movement of Qi, which supports the body’s internal organs and structure. A deficiency in Spleen Qi is a common TCM pattern correlated with symptoms like chronic systemic fatigue, digestive distress, abdominal bloating, and the pathological accumulation of “dampness” in a holistic health context.
