Spinal Stenosis

Meaning

Spinal stenosis describes an abnormal narrowing of the spinal canal, the bony passageway that houses the spinal cord and nerve roots. This constriction can occur in any region of the spine, most commonly affecting the lumbar (lower back) or cervical (neck) areas. The condition results in reduced space for neural structures, potentially leading to compression and subsequent neurological symptoms.
