Spermatogenesis Impairment

Meaning

Spermatogenesis Impairment is the clinical term describing a pathological reduction in the efficiency or output of the process by which mature sperm cells are produced within the seminiferous tubules of the testes. This impairment manifests as reduced sperm count, abnormal morphology, or decreased motility, directly contributing to male infertility. The underlying causes are multifactorial, including genetic factors, environmental toxins, systemic illness, and, critically, dysregulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Accurate diagnosis requires a comprehensive semen analysis and hormonal evaluation.
