Sperm Stem Cells

Meaning

Sperm stem cells, scientifically known as spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs), are the self-renewing, undifferentiated germline cells located within the seminiferous tubules of the testes. These critical cells possess the unique capacity to both self-replicate to maintain their own pool and differentiate into mature spermatozoa through the process of spermatogenesis. Their integrity and functional capacity are essential for lifelong male fertility.
