Sperm Production

Meaning

Sperm Production, or spermatogenesis, is the complex, highly regulated biological process occurring within the seminiferous tubules of the testes that results in the formation of mature spermatozoa capable of fertilization. This process is critically dependent on the proper pulsatile signaling from the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis, primarily through FSH and LH stimulation. Optimal production requires a stable internal hormonal environment, particularly adequate intratesticular testosterone levels. This is the endocrine foundation of male fertility.
