Sperm Motility

Meaning

Sperm Motility is the critical physiological characteristic referring to the ability of spermatozoa to move spontaneously and efficiently through the female reproductive tract toward the ovum for fertilization. Clinically, it is assessed by quantifying the percentage of motile sperm and classifying their movement as progressive, meaning forward-moving, or non-progressive. Adequate motility is a primary and essential determinant of male fertility potential.
