Sperm-Borne RNAs

Meaning

Sperm-borne RNAs are non-coding ribonucleic acid molecules, distinct from genomic DNA, that are packaged within mature spermatozoa and delivered to the oocyte upon fertilization. These paternal transcripts encompass various RNA types, including microRNAs, piwi-interacting RNAs, and transfer RNAs, representing a component of the paternal contribution to early embryogenesis beyond genetic material.
