Spatial Ability Metrics

Meaning

These are quantitative measurements used to assess an individual’s cognitive capacity to understand, reason, and remember the spatial relationships among objects or space. This includes abilities like mental rotation, spatial visualization, and the capacity to navigate an environment or mentally manipulate three-dimensional forms. Spatial ability is a critical component of executive function and is known to be significantly influenced by the circulating levels of sex steroid hormones, particularly testosterone and estrogen. These metrics serve as a specific, objective measure of the neurocognitive effects of hormonal status.
