Somatotropin Secretagogues

Meaning

Somatotropin Secretagogues are exogenous compounds or endogenous stimuli specifically designed to promote the pulsatile release of Growth Hormone (GH, or somatotropin) from the anterior pituitary gland. These agents work by mimicking or augmenting the body’s natural stimulatory signals, thereby increasing systemic anabolic drive and improving tissue remodeling capacity. Clinically, they are utilized when endogenous GH secretion is insufficient to support optimal tissue accretion and metabolic function. They target the upstream regulation of the somatotropic axis.
