Sleep Stage Biofeedback

Meaning

Sleep Stage Biofeedback is a therapeutic technique that uses real-time monitoring of physiological signals, such as brain wave activity (EEG), to provide an individual with immediate, actionable information about their current sleep stage. The goal is to train the individual to voluntarily or semi-voluntarily modulate their cognitive or behavioral state to promote deeper, more restorative sleep stages, such as slow-wave sleep. This is a non-pharmacological approach to improving sleep quality. It leverages the mind-body connection for physiological optimization.
