Sleep Efficiency Score

Meaning

The Sleep Efficiency Score is a clinical metric representing the ratio of total time spent actually sleeping to the total time spent in bed, expressed as a percentage. This score quantifies the quality of sleep onset and maintenance, reflecting the absence of prolonged wakefulness periods during the nocturnal rest cycle. A high score, typically above 85-90%, indicates effective and consolidated sleep, which is essential for neuro-endocrine regulation and physical restoration. Clinically, a consistently low score is a strong indicator of insomnia, circadian misalignment, or underlying hormonal imbalance.
